Less than two weeks to go in his two-term term, President Muhammadu Buhari will open the presidential and VIP wing at State House Medical Center on Friday.
The new wing, an extension to the existing medical center, located within the presidential villa in Asokoro, Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is said to cost N21 billion.
This was stated in a statement issued on Friday and signed by the Director of Information of the Presidential Villa, Abiodun Oladunjoye.

Oladunjoye said that after the official opening ceremony on Friday, Buhari will embark on a guided tour of the state-of-the-art facility and will be accompanied by State House Permanent Secretary Tijjani Umar.
The project, he said, began in November 2021 after the President’s Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari, a professor, held an inaugural ceremony.

As a demonstration of his commitment to advancing healthcare management in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari will inaugurate the state-of-the-art VIP/Presidential Wing at State House Medical Centre, Abuja on Friday 19 May.
This legacy project, located within the facilities of the Presidential Villa, had its inaugural ceremony by the President’s Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, on November 1, 2021.

With an impressive total area of 2,485 square meters on a suspended floor with a basement, the hospital, which serves as a specialized Intensive Care Center, cares for the president, vice president, their immediate families and VIPs; incorporates state-of-the-art medical technology.
The Presidential/VIP wing houses several specialized departments, which will be staffed by a team of medical professionals, with five consultation rooms dedicated to various specialties, including respiratory, cardiology, ophthalmology, ENT and general consultation.
In addition, the hospital has a specialized X-ray room equipped with a digital X-ray machine, as well as a diagnostic room encompassing MRI, CT and endoscopy facilities.
In addition, patients and visitors can enjoy access to a Healing Garden, designed to encourage healing, relaxation and the improvement of general well-being.
Costing a total of 21 billion naira and completed on schedule and budget, the VIP wing also houses a cath lab (cath lab), two operating theaters for regular procedures and special procedures such as heart transplants. organs.
After the inauguration ceremony, President Buhari, accompanied by State House Permanent Secretary Tijjani Umar, will give a guided tour of the hospital.

“We are thrilled that Mr. President has graciously agreed to inaugurate this legacy and transformational project on the cusp of the completion of his two-term term as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Armed Forces.” said the Permanent Secretary.
“Since the inception of this project in 2021, the House Administration has successfully completed several projects, including a Special Care Center, a Biosafety Level 2 Molecular Laboratory, certified by the Centers for Disease Control of Nigeria (NCDC), a medium capacity incinerator and the Dental Wing Extension Building at State House Medical Center, Asokoro, a 2-bedroom apartment block in the Staff Quarters of the Medical Center, as well as a State House Multi-Purpose Training Center at 54 seats in the Auditorium.
“The Conference Car Unit (CCU) workshop and the Modern Fleet Management center will be put into service next week,” he added.

The Presidential/VIP Wing will co-exist with the State House Medical Center, located in Asokoro, Abuja.
