The All Progressives Congress (APC) overturned the suspension of Barnabas Gemade and six others by the party’s Benue state chapter.

The APC in Benue had announced on Wednesday the suspension of Mr Gemade and others for alleged anti-party activities.

However, in a statement on Thursday, APC’s National Advertising Secretary Felix Morka said the suspension had been overturned by the National Labor Committee (NWC) pending a review of the allegations.

“The party has ordered that said suspension and all related actions in the matter be, and hereby, be quashed pending further review and decision by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on the matter.

“Therefore, Senator Gemade, Professor Shija and five others who are affected by such suspension are, and remain, bona fide members of our Party’s Benue State Chapter,” the statement read in part. .

Mr. Gemade, a former senator, contested the gubernatorial primary election against Hyacinth Alia, the governor-elect of Benue State.

The former senator was accused of working against the party because he lost his voting unit, district and local government area to the opposition.

Mr. Gemade served as a minister and later as the national president of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
