He Police Service Commission (PSC) says it has approved the payment of six months’ salaries for police personnel recruited last year.
The Commission’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
He said that a letter with the details of the officials was sent to the General Accountant of the Federation to enroll them in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) of the federal government.
Ani said the letter was signed by the Commission’s Permanent Secretary, Ifeoma Anyanwutaku, requesting timely payment of six months’ salaries owed to police personnel.
Around 1,007 people were recruited into the force as police officers during the 2021/2022 recruitment exercise.
Cops passed out of police schools six months ago but have still not been paid despite being deployed to their places of assignment.
Many of them face difficulties due to non-payment of their salaries despite pleas through protests made to the relevant authorities.
Mr. Ani noted that the commission’s prompt response to approve the wages was the result of complaints and appeals from concerned Nigerians.

“The Commission’s prompt response also followed Nigerians’ protests and calls for Police 2021/2022 to recruit those who have not yet registered with the Federal Government’s Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, IPPIS, and who had not received salaries, six months after his death. from police schools and duly assigned to police commandos and formations for active police work, do not become victims of the confrontation between the Commission and the Nigerian police force.
“The Commission’s approval for the registration of 1007 Nigerian Police Force recruited personnel in the 2021/2022 recruitment exercise on the IPPIS payment platform for the purposes of salaries and other emoluments has been conveyed to the Accountant General of the Federation.
“In the letter signed by Dr. (Mrs.) Ifeoma A. Anyanwutaku, Permanent Secretary and Secretary of the Commission and dated May 5, 2023, the Commission requested a “prompt and favorable response to activate and establish the processes and necessary procedures to ensure that these police officers are immediately captured on the required payment platform and paid accordingly,” the statement said.
The spokesman also noted that the commission’s chairman, Solomon Arase, a former inspector general of police, expressed his dissatisfaction that the policemen were being owed six months’ wages.
