He Independent Commission for Corrupt Practices and other related crimes (ICPC) has prosecuted a prison officer for labor racketeering.
A statement from the anti-corruption agency said on Friday that Moses Eyimoga, superintendent of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Lafia, Nasarawa state, was indicted on a corruption charge in Makurdi Federal High Court, Benue state.
The agency accused Mr. Eyimoga of collecting N800,000 from a couple for two jobs at the Federal University, Lafia, when he knew the claim was false.
He allegedly committed the offense contrary to Section 1(1) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offenses Act 2006.
The defendant pleaded “not guilty” to the charge and was later granted bail by Judge Abdul Adogo.

NIGERIA CORRECTIONAL SERVICES SUPERINTENDENT CHARGED FOR JOB RACKETEERING
A Superintendent of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Lafia, Nasarawa State, Mr. Eyimoga Moses, was arraigned in court before the Hon. Judge Abdul Dogo of the Federal High Court, Makurdi, for the Independent Commission for Corrupt Practices and Other Related Crimes (ICPC) for the fraudulent act of labor extortion.
According to CIPC attorney Barr. Bako Alongs, the defendant, Eyimoga Moses, who is a superintendent of the Nasarawa State Service Command, was indicted on one count of corruption of a charge before the Hon. Judge Abdul Adogo, for collecting N800,000 from a couple for two vacant posts at the Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa State, which Eyimoga knew to be false and therefore committed an offense contrary to Section 1(1) Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Crimes Act of 2006.

The defendant pleaded “not guilty” to the charge and was admitted on bail and ordered detained at the Nigerian Correctional Service, Makurdi, Benue State, pending the conditions of the bail.
The case was adjourned until June 20, 2023 for trial.
