Makki Yalleman (APC-Jigawa) joined the race for the presidency of the House of Representatives at the 10th National Assembly.

Mr Yalleman, who represents Jigawa’s Mallammadori/Kaugama federal constituency, had this to say when speaking to reporters in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said zoning the House speaker to the northwest would ensure fairness and balance in the country’s political positions.

Mr. Yalleman, also vice chair of the House Defense Committee, said that although the zoning of political offices was not clearly established in the constitution, it was introduced in accordance with federal principles.

“I will run for the position of President of the 10th National Assembly if the leadership of the APC It places it in the northwest where I come from.

“Regarding what I will do, if I emerge as the speaker of the House of Representatives, I will take everyone, regardless of political parties, religion, ethnic and language differences,” he said.

He promised to ensure harmony between the different branches of government, the legislative, the executive and the judicial.

He said that critical bills and motions aimed at the country’s growth and development would receive proper attention if he emerged as a speaker.
