Listening to the candidate of the Labour party contesting to be elected the next governor of Abia state come March 11 2023, one can not help but wonder why the state of affairs has been so sour for Abia from the commencement of the Fourth Republic in 1999 till date.
Yet men like Dr. Alex Otti weild so much knowledge and skill in managing ingeniously both human and material resources efficiently to the extent that we are forced to ask why is Dr. Otti not running the political and economic affairs of the state already?
As Dr. Alex Otti publicly presented his manifesto on the 10th of November 2022, what comes to mind is a man with a workable plan of action to lift Abia out of the doldrums of political misrule and economic stagnation experienced from the beginning of the Fourth Republic in 1999.
His manifesto apart from being rich in content was presented persuasively by Dr. Alex Otti to the extent that the average listener would be persuaded to cast his vote for the labour party candidate to become the next governor of the state.
The content of his action plan struck a cord with the average Abian and made an impression that stared hope that things can indeed become better for the state with responsive leadership. And indeed responsive leadership is what Dr. Alex Otti OFR is offering the Abia electorate in the coming elections and beyond.
Part of the campaign slogan of Dr. Alex Otti is “Abians, weep no more help is on the way” and the manifesto as presented by the labour party candidate outlined ways and means through which help will be brought to the good and long suffering people of Abia under the able, tried and trusted hands of Dr. Alex Otti.
The rebuild Abia initiative will kick off when Dr. Alex Otti takes the oat of office come may 29 2023 and he has promised as a priority to clear up the back log of salaries and pensions owed by the state and to convert the contentious security votes to an investment fund which would grant loans on friendly terms to drive the stimulation of fresh micro, small and medium businesses thereby creating jobs in the state.
The campaign manifesto of Dr. Alex Otti also promised to establish new industries while reviving those that have become moribund. The new industries thus established by his administration will be handed over to the private sector under proven and tested profitable models.
Aba and Umuahia will move away from a day time only economy to a 24hr economy to stimulate a higher velocity of money for economic growth and GDP expansion. The GDP of the state currently at 3.5 trillion will be moved to 7 trillion within the first half of his administration Dr. Otti has promised the Abia electorate.
The poor state of infrastructure in the state and in Aba particularly will be a thing of the past with the plan by Dr. Alex otti to create a ministry of infrastructure to change the current negative narrative. Security will also improve with the push by Dr. Otti to light up the entire state while local vigilantes will be created to secure every inch of Abia in concert with mainstream security agencies.
Agriculture will receive a new lease of life as farmers in the state will be exposed to modern ways to improve their yield. ‘I am an Economist and an expert in wealth creation therefore my main focus as governor of Abia state will be to create wealth and eradicate poverty’ is the confident assertion by Dr. Alex otti.
Leadership is not for the unprepared and inexperienced the Labour party candidate insists-I am prepared and experienced to lead Abia to the promised land with my message of freedom ,hope and renewal. Dr. Otti has charged Abians not to cherry pick at the general elections but to vote candidates of the Labour party across board from president to governor, senate and House representatives.
Votes definitely will count this time around with the introduction of the Bimodal voter accreditation system- BVAS by INEC as provided for by the electoral act 2020.
