Troops from the Nigerian Army Battalion 202 have announced the rescue of four women, two of whom are believed to be among the Chibok girls kidnapped.
The women who were rescued along with their children are currently in a medical facility at an unknown location, says a Nigerian Army post on Twitter.
PREMIUM TIMES’ efforts to speak with Army spokesman Onyema Nwachukwu, a Major General, were unsuccessful as he was not answering calls on his mobile phone.
The rescue of the two girls comes just two months after the Army announced the rescue of another girl from the same group.
It also comes some five years after 81 of the school girls who were kidnapped by the insurgent group Boko Haram were freed.
Nearly 300 girls were kidnapped from their bedrooms in 2014 as they prepared to write their final exams.
Twenty-one of them were released earlier in 2016, following negotiations between Boko Haram and the Nigerian government.
Two other girls were found separated, in addition to those who escaped the night of their kidnapping, bringing the number to more than 50 who have regained their freedom.
