the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) said on Tuesday that it has made a further deployment of its officers to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, following reports of attacks in various parts of the city.
Force spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi had this to say in a statement obtained by PREMIUM TIMES.
His statement comes amid reported attacks and panic among residents about the possibility of more terror attacks in the capital city.
PREMIUM TIMES reported how troops from the 7th Guards Battalion of the Nigerian Army Presidential Guards Brigade were ambushed Friday night around Abuja’s Bwari Area Council by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
The incident left three soldiers injured and eight staff members dead.
The attack came just weeks after terrorists overran Abuja’s Kuje prison and freed hundreds of inmates, including suspected Boko Haram members.
One of the terrorists in a video threatened that his group would kidnap President Muhammadu Buhari and some other governors of the country.

In reaction to the various incidents, the police urged residents to cooperate with their men to prevent attacks inside the territory.

FCT SECURITY
We leave no stone unturned to strengthen the Federal Capital Territory and its surroundings. The IGP mandated the further deployment of assets to strategic areas of the FCT, while the Force Intelligence Office was tasked with robust intelligence gathering and information sharing among other agencies.
All residents of the FCT are encouraged to work synergistically and in concert with the police and other security agencies to ensure that unpleasant incidents are prevented in and around the FCT.
