Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bellohas confirmed the ambush of troops from the Guards Battalion 7 of the Presidential Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army.
PREMIUM TIMES reported how troops, who are responsible for the security of the Nigerian president, were ambushed Friday night around Abuja’s Bwari Area Council by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
The incident, which took place on Friday night around Abuja’s Bwari Area Council, left three soldiers injured and eight staff members dead.
Two of the personnel killed were officers, including a captain and a lieutenant, while the rest were soldiers.
According to an army source, the main objective of the terrorists is to attack the Nigerian Law School in Bwari and they may have already camped in the area.
Confirming the incident, the governor of Kogi state mourned the indigenous people of the state who were killed in the attack.
In a statement by his chief press secretary, Mohammed Onogwu, the governor commiserated with the Nigerian military and the immediate families of those killed.
While condemning the cowardly act, the governor urged the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has expressed regret over the deaths of Army officers killed during an ambush on the Presidential Brigade Guard on Sunday by suspected terrorists after Army officers responded to a distress call. from the Nigerian Law School, Bwari.
Governor Bello in a press release signed on Tuesday by his chief press secretary, Muhammed Onogwu, said it was sadder to learn that two of the fallen brave officers, namely Captain Samuel Attah and Lieutenant Ibrahim Suleiman, were sons illustrious of the state of Kogi.

Governor Bello condemned the terrorist ambush, calling it a cowardly act and a show of cowardice, and urged the authorities to expedite the actions and ensure the capture of those responsible and also prevent any future occurrence.
He added that the concern over the relentless but cowardly uncoordinated attacks by terrorists should be given great attention and brutal response from the respective security agencies, stating that Nigeria’s internal sovereignty should not be at the mercy of criminal elements.
The Governor commiserated with the families of the deceased, in particular Lt. Suleiman’s father, Col. Suleiman Ahmodu Babanawa (Rtd) of Okpo, Olamaboro Local Government. and Captain Samuel Attah of the Ibaji Local Government Area of the State. He also expressed his condolences to the Nigerian Army for the deaths of some of his best officers.
Governor Bello prayed that God grant eternal rest to the mourners and that everyone hurt by his shocking and painful death receive relief from their pain.
