For failing to rescue the kidnapped victims of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack four months after the incident, President Muhammadu Buhari and his Congress of all progressives (APC) have failed the nation, the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has said.

The PDP also questioned the presidency and the security chiefs for not capturing the kidnappers despite the multiple videos they have published with their naked faces.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said this during a press conference on Monday.

He was reacting to a video posted by the terrorists. The video shows the gunmen beating some of the male hostages with a club and some distressed hostages calling on the Nigerian government to rescue them.

Ologunagba said that APC’s failure to rescue the victims after 120 days shows that the government is negligent, irresponsible, unconcerned and completely insensitive to the pain and suffering of citizens.

“As a party, our hearts bleed. The APC government has hopelessly failed our nation,” he said. “Under the APC, Nigeria is rapidly slipping into a Hobbesian state where the rule of law, order and leadership are absent and where a group of cruel, inhumane and callous human beings in government have abandoned our citizens to murderers, terrorists and bandits.”

The recent video, he said, is a testament to the reported complicity and failure of the APC government to take decisive action to rescue victims since the attack and a painful commentary on the continuing mass killings by terrorists in various parts of the country. .

“In the video, blatantly, terrorists as non-state actors boldly showed their faces, boasting, admitting and confirming their involvement in the Kuje prison breakout, some of whom were former inmates who were incarcerated or awaiting release. trial for his previous act of terrorism against our country.”

While recalling a comment by Kaduna state governor Nasir el-Rufai, who said that the government is aware of the terrorists’ plans and whereabouts, the PDP spokesman said that humanity and leadership are currently lacking in the country.

He further regretted that 18,000 Nigerians have been killed between 2020 and 2022 “by terrorists who remain emboldened by the failures and obvious complicity of the APC and whom the PDP has always drawn attention to.”

This, the PDP said, is a direct admission of inadequacy and failure on the part of the Buhari-led presidency and the APC.

The PDP is among many who have condemned the government’s failure to rescue the victims of the train attacks and other victims across the country.

Earlier today, the terrorists freed four hostages while the families of the remaining hostages protested in the federal capital, calling for government intervention.

Some 39 victims remain hostage.
