Officers from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) recovered two weapons and a cartridge from suspected robbers on the run in the Orile-Iganmu area of ​​Lagos state.

This was contained in a statement posted on his Twitter account, monitored by the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) on Sunday.

RRS Commander Yinka Egbeyemi said that the Command, acting on intelligence, ordered one of the squad’s tactical teams to patrol the area to prevent criminal activities in the environment.

“The directive was based on the sighting of night movement of some strange faces in the area.

“The team had heard sounds of gunfire while patrolling the area around 2:00am and rushed to the scene.

“The suspects upon seeing the team, threw an object and fled the scene.

“While combing the area, officers recovered two locally made shotguns and a live cartridge near the point where the men were seen.”

Egbeyemi said Police Commissioner Abiodun Alabi had ordered an investigation to find the suspects.

“The CP, while praising the team, has ordered a full-scale investigation and sustained search for the fleeing criminals.

“Alabi assured the people of Lagos that no stone will be left unturned as the command steps up efforts to arrest the crime rate across the state,” he said.
