The All Progressives Congress (APC) in lakes state has called “ridiculous and dreamlike” thoughts that the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) will win the state in the 2023 general election.
The party’s Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, who said so in a statement on Monday in Lagos, explained that the PPD’s victory in the Osun gubernatorial election on Saturday cannot be repeated in Lagos.
“Our attention has been focused on Lagos state PDP gubernatorial candidate Jide Adediran’s naïve and childish response to the result of the recently held Osun state gubernatorial election,” Oladejo said in the statement.
“While we recognize the right to celebrate unexpected, opportunistic and unusual euphoria as a result of the elections, the excitement was taken to a ridiculous level by daydreaming about winning the gubernatorial election in Lagos State.
He said the opposition party should not equate the upcoming 2023 gubernatorial election in Lagos with the PDP primary.
According to him, the PDP gubernatorial candidacy given to Olajide Adediran, popularly known as ‘Jandor’, and Nollywood actress Funke Akindele cannot add value to the PDP.

“The governance of a model state like Lagos is too important to entrust to dreamers who have absolutely nothing to offer,” Oladejo said.
“While Lagos residents celebrate Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s historic and award-winning achievements in various sectors with a focus on the THEMES mantra, their hope of winning the election can only be a mirage.
“It is certainly not natural that the civilized and cosmopolitan citizens of Lagos are tired of the various advances in development and the prospects of doing more in the coming years.
“As we count down to the election, the gubernatorial and lieutenant gubernatorial debates are going to be an interesting spectacle.”
According to him, while the headlines “will rejoice monumental achievements in office, the opposition will play to its strength with the characteristic comedy of errors.”
“We urge the Governor not to lose heart as he strives to finish strong in the first term of his term,” the APC spokesman said.
