
Former Jigawa State Governor Saminu Turaki was elected on Monday as a senatorial candidate for the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), representing the Jigawa Northwest Senate District.
Mr. Turaki, who recently joined the PDP, came out unopposed in the elections that took place in the Gumel Local Government Area.
In addition, Hussaini Namadi and Mustapha Habib were elected unopposed as the PDP candidates for Northeast and Southwest Jigawa, respectively.
Mr. Namadi represented the Hadejia/Auto/Kafin Hausa federal constituency from 2011 to 2015, while Mr. Habib represented the Miga/Jahun federal constituency in the House of Representatives.
His election took place in the senatorial seats of Hadejia and Dutse, respectively.
The primaries were supervised by officials from the party’s national headquarters, as well as officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
