Ondo State Police on Sunday confirmed the abduction of a clergyman and his son on Ifon-Okeluse Road in the Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Police spokesman in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident to reporters, saying the assailants abducted the couple on Saturday.
“It is true that the cleric and his son were kidnapped by unknown gunmen, but detectives continue to work to rescue the victims,” the spokesman said.
A witness earlier told reporters that the victims were traveling when the kidnappers approached them and dragged them into the bush and to an unknown destination.
He said that the bandits thereafter contacted the family and demanded a ransom of N10 million, but the family was only able to collect N1 million, which the kidnappers refused to collect.
