The National Pension Commission (PenCom) The exercise of recapturing data from the holders of retirement savings accounts by the Pension Fund Administrators has begun.
The commission in a statement Thursday said the exercise is for both active taxpayers and retirees whose data has not been recaptured.
The commission introduced the Data Retrieval Exercise (DRE) in August 2019 to facilitate the collection of complete, accurate and current data on all RSA holders, both active and retired.
The DRE is mostly for contributors who registered before July 2019. This implies that the retirement savings contributions that were registered before July 2019 do not have sufficient information.
He said the DRE complies with the Federal Government’s directive that all data-generating organizations must harmonize their databases with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
“It is also consistent with the need to have a credible database of all RSA holders in Nigeria,” he said.
“Consequently, all active taxpayers are recommended to visit their AFPs and provide the following documents to complete the data recapture of the Personnel Identity Card or the National Identity Document.
“For retirees, who are on scheduled retirement or annuity, they are expected to present a national driver’s license or permanent voter card, international passport (mandatory for non-Nigerians), registration ticket issued by NIMC, letter of retirement issued by the employer to the retiree
“All RSA holders, who have had a name change (either surname or name or both after registration), must present a Marriage Certificate (only applies in case of marriage), publication in a newspaper for name change, affidavit, confirmation letter of name change from employer (if still employed).”
PenCom has also ordered all PFAs that issue acknowledgment vouchers to RSA holders to submit completed documents for their data recovery, the commission said. He added that all RSA holders will be notified of the status of their data recovery (successful or unsuccessful) within five business days of submitting the documents.
The commission had previously approved the hiring of two agents, Payone Solution Systems Limited and Afritech Multi Concept Limited, to carry out the DRE. Agents are authorized to establish data recovery centers.
RSA holders can retrieve their data at such centers from agents if they are unable to visit their PFA offices, the commission said Thursday.
