The federal government has declared Monday and Tuesday holidays to commemorate workers Day Y EIdel-Fitr celebrations, said a statement from the Ministry of the Interior.
Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola, who made the statement on behalf of the federal government, congratulated workers across the country on this year’s celebration.
Furthermore, Mr. Aregbesola commended the workers for their hard work, diligence and sacrifice, noting that their efforts are largely responsible for the greatness of the country and the respect that Nigeria now commands in the community of nations.
“Work is the very essence of humanity. We are alive because we work and only the dead are unable to work,” said the statement signed by ministry spokesman Shuaib Belgore.
“The end of work is productivity. It is productivity that leads to the satisfactory provision of goods and services and the creation of wealth. Therefore, it is the path to national and individual prosperity.”
He urged the workers to raise the level of their craft in line with the drive of the administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari to speed up the vehicle of government and make all the people of Nigeria get the maximum benefit of the nation.
He congratulated all Muslims for successfully completing Ramadan.
Mr. Aregbesola urged all Muslims to imbibe and practice the virtues of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, self-sacrifice, sacrifice and neighborliness, as exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad.
“The self-restraint, self-sacrifice, sacrifice and deep spiritual awareness that accompanied the fasting period should not end, but should be maintained and improved, in order to be a better person and a true worshiper,” the minister said.
The minister expressed his confidence that security challenges in some parts of the country will soon be a thing of the past, noting that the government is making determined efforts and taking all necessary measures for Nigerians to enjoy unrestricted peace.
Mr. Aregbesola assured Nigerians that President Buhari’s administration is committed to the safety of life and property of all citizens and foreigners alike.
He praised all the security agencies for their successes in fighting criminals across the country and the peace that has returned to previously besieged places.
He urged Nigerians to be part of the nation’s security by being vigilant and reporting suspicious people and activities to the nearest law enforcement agencies, noting that security is everyone’s responsibility.
