PDP presidential hopeful Tambuwal in closed-door meeting with Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari met Tuesday behind closed doors with Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Mr Tambuwal, who was elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has since shown interest in participating in the upcoming presidential elections on the party’s platform.

However, he has rejected claims that a former Senate president, Bukola Saraki, and Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi emerged as the party’s PDP North consensus candidates for the presidential election.

The governor, when approached by correspondents from the House of Representatives, refused to comment on the outcome of his meeting with the president, who is a member of the APC, saying his visit to the villa was private.

However, NAN reliably learned that Mr. Tambuwal briefed Mr. Buhari on socio-economic and security developments in his state.
