Governor Gboyega Oyetola de Osun says that keeping the promises he made to the people of the state in the last three and a half years of his administration, with limited resources, will see him win the July 16 state gubernatorial election.
The governor said this at an engagement program organized by the State Civic Engagement Center with the Osun Chapter of the Master Bakers Association on Sunday in Osogbo.
Mr. Oyetola, who was represented at the event by his Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, said that the masses would be able to bear witness to his achievements in all areas, which would make them support his re-election.
The governor, who indicated that he will continue to focus on delivering a quality service to the people, said that God’s will will prevail through the popular support of the people.
Mr. Oyetola said that with the meager available resources amassed by the state, he had positively changed the state’s economy for the benefit of those who elected him.
The governor, who described the masses as the pillar of his administration from the beginning, said that he will continue to make sacrifices that make life more comfortable for them.
Oyetola also said that he was still the candidate to win in the elections, adding that Osun belonged to the progressives and that nothing could change the status quo.
“My re-election is a project of God because the masses are behind me and they will return me to office in the next elections.
“I kept the promises I made to the good people of the state within limited resources, and I know they will have faith in me on Election Day.
“In no way will I relax in my second term, but will continue to build on the strong foundations that we have laid,” he said.
Mr. Oyetola called on members of the association, who had yet to pick up their Permanent Voter Cards at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, to do so and use them to support his re-election.
He said he would continue to provide the environment for the growth and expansion of their businesses.
In his remarks, the association’s president, Bakare Ganiyu, praised the governor for various development projects in the state.
Mr. Ganiyu promised that the members of the association would support the governor’s re-election bid so that his administration would continue the good works.
