Lukman Abdulkarim Haruna was born in the Nigerian capital of Jos and raised in the Ojodu neighborhood of Lagos. He grew up in a household of seven children, six of them were boys and one of whom was a girl.

The star’s football career began when he was a young child, participating in street football in the Ojodu ghetto.
