Two people were killed in a solo crash involving a Mazda bus on Friday around Christopher University on the Lagos-Ibadan highway.
Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesman for the Ogun Traffic Enforcement and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), who confirmed the incident to reporters in Abeokuta, said 12 other people were injured.
Akinbiyi said the accident occurred at 1:10 pm and was caused by a blown tire, causing the driver to lose control and the bus with registration number APP 417 XU to flip.
He said 18 passengers, including 15 men and three women, were involved in the crash.
“According to eyewitnesses, the commercial bus was leaving Lagos en route to Ibadan, before it blew out a tire while in motion, lost control and then flipped, killing one of the passengers in the process.

“The second person to die at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (SOUTH) where he was rescued by the Ogun State Emergency and Ambulance Services (OGSAES),” he said.
Mr. Akinbiyi said that the victims were taken to OOUTH and Idera Sagamu Hospital by OGSAEC men.
He sympathized with the families of the deceased and urged motorists to make safety their motto, not exceeding speed limits and avoiding the use of expired tires.
