The Lagos-based school, Chrisland, has distanced itself from the rape and pregnancy testing allegations.
The school and its students have been trending since Easter Sunday for a sexual violation involving minors.
On Tuesday, Akin Fadeyi, a member of the institution’s advisory committee, denied in a statement claims that students under his supervision were raped and one took a pregnancy test without parental consent.
The alleged rape occurred when a delegation from Chrisland School was in Dubai in March to take part in the World School Games, an annual four-day competition with schools from around the world.
In a viral video, the minor’s mother recounted how the school hid the matter from her. She claimed that she took her daughter for a pregnancy test without her consent.
“We are proud to assure our stakeholders that no child was raped or tested for pregnancy under our supervision,” said Mr. Fadeyi.
“To emphasize, only one post-travel COVID test was conducted on the return delegation of our students, in accordance with COVID-19 travel protocols, at Life Center Medical Services on March 21, 2022, at School Hall. , Opeby.
“This was through nasal swab testing, in accordance with COVID-19 health protocols. We trust that this can be verified from the source provided. To imply that a student was tested for pregnancy, for whatever reason, is therefore a very unfortunate guess.”
Mr. Fadeyi said that management has been following up on reports circulating about the morals and ethics of some students who participated in the international games and are supporting those involved.
He explained that 76 students represented Chrisland, but 71 “ensured unimpeachable adherence to our standards, adhering to established norms and code of conduct, while making us very proud in the process.”
She further said that in their attempt to draw an obvious line that respects moral boundaries, they kept female students on the 11th floor while their male counterparts stayed on the 4th floor.

“However, we were forced to engage with the parents of the remaining students who unfortunately engaged in misconduct, and in accordance with our code of conduct processes, which are well known to parents, we applied mild reprimands to instill a sense of discipline and as a deterrent to others.
“This was also to warn our students about the need to stay on the path of resisting bad influences,” Mr. Fadeyi continued.
“The disciplinary action was not to undermine our cohesive culture as a community of committed future leaders and instructors, but to be assertive in imparting the kind of discipline that seeks to correct and reform our children when they stray from the path of righteousness.”
Management said they will hire the expertise of child psychologists to ensure “we translate this advocacy to benefit the children in our care.”
After the incident, the Lagos state government shutdown all Chrisland schools in the state awaiting the outcome of their investigation.
