Fire rips through Lagos plank market, destroys goods worth millions of naira |

A plank market at Odo Eran Ogba bus stand, Ikeja, Lagos, was destroyed by fire in the early hours of Sunday, with goods worth millions of naira destroyed.

Although the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, officials from the Ikeja and Alausa fire stations got into the situation with other emergency services to put out the fire.

The director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Ms. Margaret Adeseye, who confirmed the incident to reporters, said that no casualties were recorded in the incident.

She said: “The incident that was alerted through the State Command and Control portal on Sunday at 03:37, caused the Ikeja and Alausa fire stations to respond with the support of other emergency services due to the intensity. and nature of combustible materials involved in the fire.”

One resident, Babatunde Abiola, reacting via his Facebook page, said the fire was the result of sabotage by unknown groups and would soon be discovered.

“Some groups are deliberately causing these hells in this country. And God will soon expose them and create his own hell fire for them,” he said.

Another resident, Aluka Sesughba, said: “The market is too fetishistic and that is the main cause of the fire. Believe me or not.”

Ricketts Oluwarotim stated that Nigerians need to beware of thugs who want to wreak havoc on the country right now.

“Nigerians, especially Lagosians, must always be vigilant. The evil forces and their gofers are spying everywhere, including in all Local Councils, Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) and remote areas. God will surely thwart and expose all his evil plans. What is happening in the southeast and middle belt are indicators. Things are getting out of control,” he said.
