The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the southeast has reiterated its demand for the zoning of the party’s presidential position in 2023 to southern Nigeria.
The party’s national deputy president, Southeast, Ali Odefa, revealed it on Sunday at the end of the zonal meeting in Enugu.
Odefa said that the position coincided with that of the Forum of Governors of the South.
He said it was only fair that the country’s next president should be chosen from southern Nigeria.
“Where there are zoning patterns, they must be strictly observed and enforced in all states and congressional districts,” he said.
He said that the party’s zonal leadership would make a presentation to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on the matter.

The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that those who attended the meeting included Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and his counterpart from Abia, Okezie Ikpeazu.
Others included the party’s National Secretary, Sam Anyanwu, members of the State and National Assemblies, members of the PDP NEC, Board of Trustees (BOT) and others.
