United States Tech Giant, Googlehas issued an urgent update warning to its billions of Chrome users worldwide to fix a bug.
Google issued the warning on its official page chrome blogrevealing that Chrome on Windows, macOS, and Linux is vulnerable to a new “zero-day” attack (CVE-2022-1096).
The company said that it “…is aware that an exploit exists for CVE-2022-1096,” implying that all Chrome users are vulnerable.
Zero-day is the most dangerous form of attack because it means hackers learn about the vulnerability before Google can address and fix it.
Google says that it is currently restricting information about the exploit to buy Chrome users time to update. So far, the company has revealed that the threat level is “High” and that it knew about it through an anonymous tip.
In response, Google announced an emergency update for Chrome (99.0.4844.84) ”for Windows, Mac, and Linux to be rolled out in the next few days/weeks.”
“Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until the majority of users are updated with a fix,” the tech company said.
“We will also keep the restrictions if the bug exists in a third-party library that other projects similarly rely on, but have not yet been fixed.”
