The Presidency has argued that the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is only interested in destabilizing the country to return to power.
Presidential spokeswoman Femi Adesina affirmed this in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday.
He made the accusations in reaction to a recent statement by the PDP in response to the alarm issued by the State Security (SSS) that some people were planning to cause disorder in the country using the energy crisis as a smokescreen.
The opposition party reacted by saying it feared the energy crisis could trigger national unrest worse than the 2020 #EndSARS protest against police brutality if not addressed immediately.
But Mr. Adesina told the PDP that instead of plotting and encouraging “unrest worse than EndSARS of October 2020”, which he (the PDP) may well be conceiving, the PDP should work for harmony and cohesion in the country, if he ever understands that concept.
He advised the opposition to always promote the virtues of social cohesion and peaceful coexistence instead of instigating anarchy, social unrest and disorder in society.
“EndSARS meant murder, chaos, mass destruction, even cannibalism. The PDP now wishes Nigeria worse.
“A PDP presidential hopeful has warned that the party would die by 2023, unless it wins the Number One job in the country. And he would die, if the party wishes the country nothing except worse than EndSARS.”

STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE
DESTABILIZATION: PDP HAS ITSELF
The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has given itself to understand that it is only interested in destabilizing the country, by chance it could then sneak back into power.
Less than 24 hours after the Department of State Services (DSS) sounded the alarm about sinister plots by some elements to cause disorder in the territory, using the energy crisis as a smoke screen, the PDP issued a statement saying; “Our party fears that the situation is reaching a boiling point and could trigger a national upheaval that could be worse than EndSARS in October 2020 if not addressed immediately.”
What political party or patriotic organization ever threatens their country with anarchy, social upheaval, and disorder, except one that still gets its snout aching from being plucked out of the honey pot, as happened to the PDP in 2015?
But we want to remind the now lukewarm opposition party that it was Nigerians who kicked them out 7 years ago, and those same Nigerians have not forgotten the tribulations they experienced, at a time when the country was awash in money: no electricity, no infrastructure . , insurgents rioted across the nation, and our collective heritage was blindly plundered. Those same Nigerians are not prepared for another PDP misrule, not now, and perhaps not for long.
Instead of plotting and encouraging an “unrest worse than EndSARS of October 2020”, which it may well be envisioning, the PDP should work for harmony and cohesion in the country, if it ever understands that concept.
EndSARS meant murder, chaos, mass destruction, even cannibalism. The PDP now wishes Nigeria worse.
A PDP presidential hopeful has warned that the party would die by 2023, unless it wins the Number One job in the country. And he would die, if the party wishes the country nothing except worse than EndSARS.
