Governor of Kwara State AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Monday paid a condolence visit to the family of Olomi Sunday, the APC female leader in Koro district of Ekiti local government area, who was recently shot dead by her kidnappers during a rescue operation.
The afternoon Mrs Sunday was one of the APC chiefs kidnapped on Wednesday night between Araromi Opin and Obbo-Ile in the local government area on her way back from the APC state executives swearing-in in Ilorin.
The governor was received by the Olukoro of Koro, Oba Peter Aremu Adaralegbe I, husband of the late Mr. Sunday, and some other members of the family.
He was accompanied on the visit by the Vice President of the House of Assembly, Adetiba Rapheal; the Health Commissioner, Raji Rasaq; Senior Special Security Assistant Aliyu Muyideen; ICT President for Ekiti, Kehinde Bayode; and APC state chairman Sunday Fagbemi, who had previously visited the family on behalf of the party.
According to a statement by his spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaye, Mr. AbdulRazaq had previously visited a health center where rescued kidnapping victims were hospitalized.

Since last Wednesday’s incident, the government has activated a multi-layered security effort to rescue the victims, culminating in the gun duel between the local vigilante group and the kidnappers on Saturday night and the rescue of the five remaining victims.
The kidnappers died in the encounter. The governor praised the efforts of security agencies to rid the state of criminal elements.
