
Gunmen on Thursday attacked four banks and a police headquarters in Edo Statesouth-south of Nigeria.
The armed men besieged the town of Uromi in the Northeast Esan Local Government Area.
Witnesses said the gunmen came into town in numbers and in several vehicles before attacking the four banks with dynamite.
Unmasked gunmen killed two policemen and five people in the siege.
Edo police spokesman Bello Kontongs confirmed the attack but said he had no further details of the attack.
Kontongs, a police superintendent, said that one of the four banks attacked is a new generation establishment.
He confirmed the death of the two police officers and five civilians in the attack.
