a non-governmental organization, the star initiativehas announced the launch of ‘The BoyCode’, an empowerment project aimed at equipping 50 young people between the ages of 13 and 20 with technological skills such as robotics, web design, graphics, blockchain education, ui/ux and other technical skills relevant. .
It was launched on February 4 to foster the growth and development of future leaders and developers, the organization said in a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES.
The group said it plans to collaborate with public and private organizations and educational institutions around the world to support and promote efforts that further its mission of lifting kids off the streets with technology and teaching them skills that are relevant in the marketplace.
Precious Eniayekan, founder of the Initiative, said: “Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world, and technology has also systematically changed the way we learn, live and do things. We are preparing children especially from Nigeria for this paradigm shift in web application, with courses and programs to close this skills gap. Through The Boy Code, TSi will provide support in a way that fits the needs of students, including but not limited to laptops, software, experienced professionals, internship opportunities, and much more to aid learning.”
The Stellar Academy Vice Principal, Victoria Agorye, noted that so far, TSI has been able to purchase 20 new laptops for beneficiaries, and asked people to donate to get more laptops for the children.
According to her, the goal is to train 50 children from different communities in Africa but starting from Lagos, Nigeria.
“They must be empowered to see themselves as part of the solution. This initiative builds on our ongoing work to make sure the next generation of men who are now boys are equipped with the information, tools and mentorship they need,” said TSI’s Precious Eniayekan.
“Our work with the Stellar Initiative has been ongoing for several years and we are excited to launch this project that is set to transform lives. We believe that the skills and knowledge we bring to our students will be key for the industry to thrive and we are very excited to be part of the next generation of technology development,” said Precious Eniayekan.
