The Presidency says that President Muhammadu Buhari will embark on a four-day trip to the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on Thursday.
He will participate in the 35th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.
This was said by the president’s spokeswoman, Femi Adesina, in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
Adesina said that Buhari would join other African leaders in finding solutions to the political, economic and social challenges facing the continent.
He said that the theme of the deliberation is: “Building Resilience in Nutrition and Food Security on the African Continent: Strengthening Agriculture, Accelerating Human Capital, Social and Economic Development.”
He said that Mr. Buhari, on the sidelines of the AU meetings, would hold bilateral meetings with some leaders, with a shared interest in improving trade relations, partnering to address security challenges, and engaging with multilateral institutions for sustainable development. .
Adesina said the president would be accompanied by Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyeama, Health Minister Osagie Ehanire, Agriculture Minister Mohammed Abubakar and Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Minister Sadiya Umar Farouk.
He said: “National Security Advisor, retired Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno and National Intelligence Agency (NIA) Director General Ahmed Rufai will also join the president at the AU meetings.”
