
Bauchi State Police have arrested a man for allegedly raping his three-year-old daughter in the Kirfi Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
This was stated by Ahmed Wakil, spokesman for the command, in a statement that he made available to journalists on Saturday in Bauchi.
He said the arrest was part of the effort to address crime and other crimes in the state.
“On 09/01/2022, a certain Maryam Abdullahi, 24, reported that her husband, Ali Lawan, asked her to bring him a mat to lay down their sleeping daughter.
“He returned to the room and found the daughter lying unconscious, sweating and vomiting from her mouth, her nose and her private part was swollen,” he said.
Mr. Wakil explained that a team of detectives was dispatched to the scene, took the victim to Kirfi General Hospital for medical attention and upon examination found that the girl had been raped.
He said the girl’s father, who was the suspect, had been arrested and would be charged in court.
The girl (name withheld) is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
He said apart from the rape case, the police, working with a vigilante group, arrested Adamu Musa, 27, from Sabon Garin Batal, Tafawa Balewa LGA for kidnapping.

He said that the commando, acting on intelligence, also arrested Ya’u Haruna, 25, for being in possession of a locally made revolver, with live ammunition.
SP Wakil also said that Police Commissioner Umar Sanda has warned all criminal elements in the state and their cohorts to put an end to their illegal activities as this police will not stop arresting them.
Additionally, he urged citizens to support and provide police with relevant information to reinvigorate community policing aimed at minimizing crime in the state.
