The Lagos State Government has set Tuesday, January 4, for public and private elementary and secondary schools to resume for the second quarter of the 2021/2022 academic session in the state.
According to a statement issued by the office of the education quality assurance unit (OEQA) of the state ministry of education and signed by its public affairs officer, Olaniran Emmanuel, the second midterm parenthesis will be observed between the Thursday 17 and Friday. , February 18, 2022, while schools would be closed on Friday, April 8.
Mr. Olaniran quoted OEQA CEO Abiola Seriki-Ayeni that all students are expected to return to school as academic activities begin the same day.
Ms. Seriki-Ayeni recommended adherence to COVID-19 protocols to keep the population safe.
The statement says in part; “The CEO wishes students and teachers a happy resumption as he urges all school leaders to strictly enforce all existing COVID-19 safety protocols in the state.
“The Office of Education Quality Assurance will monitor compliance with the resumption date in the Lagos State Unified Academic Calendar and will observe the teaching and learning process in schools.”
Lagos has been the hotbed of COVID-19 infections in Nigeria, with 94,078 of the total 241,513 confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country in February 2020.
Ms. Seriki-Ayeni urged the interns to resume work on Monday, January 3, 2022 in preparation for academic activities.
