FCT Minister Malam Muhammad Bello has implored Christians to take advantage of the Christmas occasion to pray for Nigeria and its leaders at all levels for peace, progress and stability in the country.
Bello made the call in his Christmas message on Saturday in Abuja and congratulated FCT residents, especially Christians, on the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
He also exhorted the Christians of the territory to take advantage of the occasion to reflect and rededicate themselves to the virtues of love, unity and peace, “which are the recurring themes of the message of Jesus Christ.
“This is especially noteworthy because the FCT was founded on these same virtues of peace and unity, and as residents, we have a responsibility to uphold these virtues.
“As we enjoy the festivities, I want to assure residents of the FCT Administration’s continued commitment to ensuring the well-being and well-being of all.
“The Administration of the FCT continues to be especially obliged to guarantee the safety of the FCT during the Christmas season. I ask for the cooperation of the residents in assisting the security agencies in the performance of their responsibilities ”.
The minister also urged residents to be security conscious and report suspicious acts or persons to security agencies, saying that “it is only when we work together that we can overcome our security challenges.
“My dear residents, as you must know, we are now facing a fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This is characterized by a very strong increase in the number of positive cases in the territory and throughout the country, therefore, it is not the time to be complacent.
“I urge everyone to stay safe by complying with the already established COVID-19 prevention protocols of regular hand washing or disinfection, face covering, physical distancing and vaccination.”
Bello, who thanked the residents for their continuous prayers and sacrifices towards the development of the FCT, requested association and support “in the search to build the FCT of our dream.”
