Osun’s House of Assembly on Monday approved the 2022 appropriation bill of N129.7 billion brought before it by Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that on October 5 the governor presented the budget allocation / estimate bill to the assembly, which has a recurring expenditure of 53.89 billion naira and a capital expenditure of 75.86 thousand. million naira.
The 2022 budget dubbed the “Sustainable Development Budget” is also 19 billion naira higher than the 2021 budget dubbed the “Providence Budget”.
Assembly Speaker Timothy Owoeye, during the bill’s passage, praised his colleagues and the House Finance and Appropriation Committee for their tireless efforts in considering the budget.
However, Owoeye cautioned that no government agency or state ministry should alter or alter the official 2022 budget figures.
He stated that any act of manipulation would be considered a crime, which could have serious legal consequences.
The speaker said the assembly “would be aware of its responsibilities and maintain regular interaction with state Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA) and the people on budget performance evaluation and feedback.”
Previously, the speaker read a letter received from the state governor seeking a six-month extension for local state governments and interim presidents and members of the local government development areas management committee.
Mr. Owoeye, while reading the letter, said that the assembly would review the request with a directive to the Assembly’s Local Government and Headquarters Affairs Committee to begin work on the letter prior to its consideration.
