The Congress of All Progressives (APC) on Thursday in Abuja said the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) he cannot return to power in free and fair elections in 2023.
The national secretary of the APC Vigilant and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), John Akpanudoedehe, said this during a meeting with the interim state chairmen of the party.
PDP national president Iyorchia Ayu had said that APC would not survive in 2022.
Akpanudoedehe said that the electorate was smart and now knew that the PDP had nothing to offer Nigerians following its background.
The APC scribe added that the PDP was not an alternative to the APC in the upcoming 2023 general election.
He said the achievements of APC-led administrations at the state and federal level “were self-evident,” adding that the PDP had no chance of convincing Nigerians to contemplate voting for him.
Mr. Akpanudoedehe said that the sponsorship of some young people by fifth columnists and opposition agents to infiltrate and disrupt the APC had failed.
He thanked the party’s state interim presidents for being statesmen in their respective states and “for opposing youthful exuberance,” noting that “young Nigerians were very bright and resourceful.”
Akpankudohede described Ayu’s claim that the APC would not survive in 2022 as false.
“I learned that the new PDP chairman made a prophecy that we will disperse before April 2022.
Let me send a message to PDP, if we are talking about replacing APC, it can never be PDP because Nigerians are too smart.

“We inherited the insurgency and we have faced it.
“As we speak, no group is taking an inch of Nigerian territory; When the PDP was in government, it took over everywhere, but today it is different, ”he said.
The APC scribe said successes against insurgents, bandits and other criminal elements “demonstrated that the administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari was working for the well-being of Nigerians.”
“Perhaps because the president is not the type to talk, I am challenging anyone to show me a better social intervention program than this government.
“People are collecting alerts for COVID-19 palliative, young people, women, public officials are collecting it,” said Mr. Akpanudoedehe.
At the beginning of their remarks, Delta State APC Chapter Acting President Jones Erue, speaking on behalf of others, said they came to express their absolute loyalty to the CECPC led by Governor Mai Mala Buni.
He pledged the support of the chairmen of the APC State Interim Committee to the CECPC led by Buni, adding that they will not accept any attempt to destabilize and change the party’s leadership unconstitutionally.
“We do not know the young people who said they had changed the direction of the party, they are not part of us,” he said.
Erue said APC state interim presidents were determined to ensure that APC won all future elections in the areas of federal, state and local government.
He said that the APC was larger than any individual, adding that its members should bear in mind that the party had mechanisms to control agents of disorder.
The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that APC state interim presidents had previously approved a vote of confidence in the CECPC led by Buni.
