Seven die in a traffic accident in Osun

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osun Command, has confirmed the death of seven people in a car accident that occurred on the Ilesa-Osu highway on Wednesday.

The commander of the FRSC sector in the state, Paul Okpe, in a statement made available to journalists in Osogbo, said that a bus carrying some Zamfara passengers lost control around 3.45 am around the Osu area.

“A white Toyota Hiace bus lost control and went under a billboard, killing seven people, four of whom were burned beyond recognition,” he said.

Mr. Okpe, who claimed that the bus was carrying two motorcycles and some passengers at the time of the accident, attributed it to speeding and disobedience to traffic regulations.

He said the Federal Fire Service joined the body to put out the fire before the victims were taken to a nearby hospital, while the bodies of the dead were deposited in a morgue.

Okpe, however, asked motorists to be aware of road safety and to respect road safety regulations. (YAYA)
