Federal Capital Territory, FCT Minister Malam Muhammad Musa Bello congratulated Emmanuel Ogbeche on Monday on his re-election as Chairman of the FCT Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).
His congratulatory message was contained in a statement issued Monday by his chief press secretary, Anthony Ogunleye.
Newslodge recalls that Ogbeche, during an Abuja NUJ election, obtained 450 of the 518 total votes cast to defeat his main opponent, Donald Ugwu of the Nigerian News Agency, who obtained 59 votes.
The Minister noted that Ogbeche was the first council president to win a re-election bid in nearly two decades, his victory signifying determined leadership.
Malam Bello congratulated the Council for the peaceful conduct of the elections and also congratulated other members of the new Executive Committee.
The Minister welcomed the commitment of the President of the Council to work with the Administration of the Territory of the Federal Capital to achieve the objectives of “a city that works for all”.
Bello also pledged that the FCT Administration would continue to support NUJ to ensure good governance in the nation’s capital.
He wished the new President and his team a very satisfactory tenure in office.
