Free Water Technology Training: Southeast Participants Thank Fordmarx and Enugu Government
The free two-week training program for Southeast Geopolitical Zone Graduate Engineers and Technologists on Sustainable Water Technology and Renewable Energy Resources from Fordmarx Nigeria Limited and its foreign partner, Lorentz Germany, in collaboration with the Enugu State Government , ended yesterday with expressions of gratitude and fulfillment of the participants.
The free training labeled: “Train the Trainer / Capacity Building Program in Sustainable Water Technology” was pointed out by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State on November 23, 2021 at the Base Events Center, Enugu.
Represented by his Special Advisor on Water Resources, Anthony Dubem Onyia (Jnr.), Governor Ugwuanyi explained that the program was aimed at developing capacity for sustainable water technology, especially in the area of well drilling, water treatment and plant management, renewable energy, irrigation and fire fighting.
The governor urged participants to pay attention and take advantage of the ample opportunity to learn more about their areas of interest, and praised Fordmarx Nigeria Limited for the program, which he said was the first of its kind in Enugu state.
Speaking at the end of the two week program, Fordmarx Nigeria Limited Managing Director Dr. Clifford Nnaji explained that the training was started to expose participants to modern ways of doing things in terms of installation, maintenance and design of solar power system, renewable energy, water supply, water treatment and plant and fire fighting.
Dr. Nnaji said the event was successful and impactful, noting that the participants were happy and satisfied with the training they received.
“They will go back to their various communities and train others, they will transfer the knowledge that they have acquired here to other people to make sure that clean water is available to everyone in their communities, the Southeast and Nigeria in general.”
The Fordmarx CEO, who revealed that Governor Ugwuanyi’s administration has been supportive, added that “the state government has been doing a wonderful job to ensure that we build capacity for the leaders of tomorrow.”

According to him, “This training has opened our eyes to make us understand to a greater extent that water is not just water; that water that is not drinkable is not suitable for any domestic activity.
“We have learned that water is not only used for domestic activities; water is used for industrial, commercial and very diverse activities in society. So it can be said that water is a very important aspect of human life.
“We sincerely thank and congratulate Fordmarx Nigeria Limited for partnering with the Enugu State Government to bring us this program as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to give back to society.

The participant who noted that the Enugu state government has been proactive in addressing the issue of drinking water so that citizens have a sufficient supply, said: “We know of many programs that they have been doing in the villages. Even in my own village, Akpugo in the Nkanu West local government area, there is an EN-RUWASSA project there and many other villages.
“Also in the course of the training, we were taken to some of the facilities that the Enugu state government contracted with Fordmarx to develop, such as the 9th Mile Well Crash Program, which involves the total rehabilitation and conversion of so many industrial wells to solar energy. ensure a sufficient and sustainable water supply to the residents of Enugu.
“There at the site, you will see the wonderful work the state government is doing to address the water problem we have faced in the city for so many decades.
“So, on behalf of the other participants, I must congratulate the Enugu state government and the company (Fordmarx) because it is a great advantage for us participants to get closer and learn a lot about water techniques.”

In her reaction, Juliet Udakwu, a beneficiary, revealed that the training has stimulated her to develop an interest in renewable energy.
According to her, “Before now, I had no intention of dedicating myself to renewable energy resources, but after this training program, I discovered that there are many things that I can do regarding these renewable energy resources.
“I have learned a lot through this training and I am grateful to Fordmarx Nigeria Limited for organizing this program. I must applaud the Enugu state government because this is a wonderful project. As the theme of the program says: “Train the trainer”, after here we will go out to train others; What we have learned here, we will educate others and correct the mistakes they make during drilling and other related activities. ”
