Babangida, Abubakar leaders of immense vision – Anyim

A former Secretary of the Government of the Federation (SGF) and aspiring to the presidency, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, described the former heads of state, General Ibrahim Bagamosi Babangida and General Abdusalami Abubakar as patriots and leaders of immense vision.

Anyim, also a former president of the Senate, said this when he was received by the two Nigerian leaders at their residences in Minna in the state of Niger.

Revealing the outcome of their meetings through a statement sent to Newslodge on Sunday, Anyim, a head of the Ebonyi state People’s Democratic Party (PDP), said the meeting offered him another opportunity to take an X-ray of the state. from Nigeria with leaders of immense vision.

He said in part: “On Thursday December 2, 2021, the main hopeful for the presidency of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the distinguished Senator Anyim Pius Anyim (GCON) met with the former head of state of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Bademosi Babangida and General Abdusalami Abubakar in their home.

“The visit, which lasted hours, is believed to coincide with the national consultation prior to the 2023 general elections.

“I have received in a private audience two of our nation’s most esteemed leaders and patriots, His Excellencies, Alhaji Abdulsalami Abubakar (GCFR) and Ibrahim Bademosi Babangida. I am enriched and grateful. ”

Anyim had promised to make the young Nigerian population the center of the country’s quest for nation-building and development.

He said this in his speech on behalf of the other winners of the 2020 Zik Awards. He also said that the country requires a leader who can connect and engage with the people, particularly the youth.

“We need leaders who must connect and engage with the people, especially the youth. Such leaders must place youth at the center of any nation-building effort to move them from the current valley of despair to the peak of their potential, ”he said.

“We need leaders who can build a social consensus, mend our broken social fabrics and show deep empathy for all Nigerians who suffer deprivation, poverty and need of any kind. Our leaders must be experts in the science and art of good governance. ”
