
A Jigawa State High Court, sitting in Hadejia, on Friday sentenced one Magaji Husseini Lushe to death by hanging for killing his uncle.
The presiding judge, Judge Ado Yusuf Birnin kudu, said that Magaji Husseini Lushe from Rigar Didi Lamido village in KiriKaksamma local government area was prosecuted in court for killing his uncle Muhammad Alhaji Amadu with a knife.
He said the convict made a confessional statement in court that he deliberately committed the crime under the influence of hard drugs.
Judge Ado Yusuf said the offense was contrary to section 221 of the 2014 Penal Code law as amended.
Therefore, he convicted him and sentenced him to death by hanging.
Meanwhile, Judge Ado Yusuf also sentenced a Sa`idu Zakar Hadejia to life imprisonment for raping an eleven-year-old girl in Hadejia.
During his trial, the convicted man confessed to having committed the crime in addition to being a prosecution witness.
In issuing the ruling, Judge Ado Yusuf said that the court was convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that Sa`idu Zakar committed the offense that is contrary to section 283 of the 2014 amended Penal Code law.
Therefore, he sentenced him to death by hanging.
