Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has reiterated his call on the federal government to include Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN and the Fulani Nationality Movement, FUNAM on the list of terrorist groups in Nigeria.
Recall that the Federal Government through the office of the Federal Attorney General had approached a Federal High Court based in Abuja to designate the bandits as terrorist organizations, which the court forced.
But Governor Ortom, while speaking on Friday, in Makurdi at the wedding between barristers Agatha Msurshima Tyokyaa and Uhamber Bamber, said that the bandits mentioned are mostly from Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, MACBAN and FUNAM, so they should also be designated as terrorist groups.
While praising the federal government for considering the option of designating the bandits as terrorists, he suggested that “this should also include the groups Miyetti Allah and FUNAM on the list.”
He said: “I want to congratulate the federal government for being bold in designating bandits as terrorists. But I ask the government to also include Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, the MACBAN and Fulani Nationality Movement, FUNAM in the category of terrorists because those bandits are its members ”, stated the Governor.
The governor urged the people of Benue to support the security agencies with useful intelligence in the fight against crime and other forms of insecurity, noting that security is everyone’s business.
