Dowen College: Atiku demands justice for Sylvester Oromoni

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has demanded justice for Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old high school student, who was allegedly assaulted at Dowen College in Lagos state.

Sylvester died from internal injuries he sustained after an assault by his fellow students.

But the school’s principal, Ms. Adebisi Layiwola, in a statement denied any form of intimidation or attack against the student.

The denial sparked outrage on social media when Nigerians demanded that the perpetrators be arrested.

This led the Lagos state government to close the school and ordered an investigation into the incident. https://newslodge.ng/2021/12/03/lagos-govt-shuts-dowen-college-in-lekki-over-sylvester-oromonis-death/

Reacting on Twitter, Atiku urged authorities to bring the culprits to reserve.

He wrote: “We will be failing in our duties as parents / guardians, administrators, law enforcement agencies and government if we do not get to the bottom of the case of the late Sylvester Oromoni.

“It is incumbent on us to enthrone a safe environment in our schools. # Justiceforsylvester”
