The leadership of the Adamawa State College of Education (COE), Hong, has closed the institution indefinitely.
A notice announcing the closure said it was due to student disturbances.
The notice, signed to the school’s registrar by the assistant secretary, Yusufu Usman, and dated 11/29/2021, asked all students and workers, except administration staff and security personnel, to leave the school. immediately.
“I am instructed to inform all staff members and students about the indefinite closure of the university due to student disturbances that led to damage and looting of government property,” said the undersecretary.
He added in the notice seen by our correspondent Monday night: “In view of this closure, all students must vacate the facilities and shelters.”
The notice advised all law-abiding students and staff members to remain calm and await further instructions.
Sources offering an explanation for the student unrest at the university in the northern city of Adamawa Hong said that a university center was razed by protesting students.
