Ahead of the crucial winter schedules in the every busy premier league, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has distanced himself from the Manchester United job amidst huge pressure on Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

There were reports in the media earlier in the week that Rodgers is prepared to take on the Old Trafford dugout job and would jump at it if offered, the former Liverpool manager has rejected the rumors and will not entertain such thoughts.

Rodgers, 48, signed a long-term contract in 2019 at the King Power Stadium and reiterated his desire to stay at the club at a news conference on Thursday.

When asked about the speculation, Rodgers replied: “Firstly, it’s really disrespectful for you to ask the question when there is a manager in place at the club.

“Secondly, I can’t really comment on it because it’s not real. I’m proud to be here at Leicester City. It is frustrating for supporters and my players, but from a personal perspective, it is something that’s in the modern game, but something I have no focus on whatsoever.

“I’ve got a huge respect for Khun Top [Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha] and the protection of his father’s legacy. I feel I’m in the right place, at the right time, with the right people.” Rodgers has helped Leicester win the FA Cup and the Community Shield in his short term at the club.

There’s a growing belief that Solksjaer’s place at the helm for United is nearing an end following unimpressive performances and lots of unrests in the dressing room with players like Paul Pogba and Cristiano Ronaldo tired of the manager’s bust and boom cycle.

United have a challenging run of games to which the manager would be held responsible should results go sideways, the feel good factor needs to return and with a visit to Watford up next, there’s no better time to impress your traveling fans than away at Vicarage road.
