Political leaders from the Southwest and presidential candidates from the region on the platform of the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC) resolved at a meeting in Lagos on Friday that the region “must produce” Nigeria’s next president.
The candidates met with two former governors of the party, Segun Osoba and Bisi Akande.
The candidates for vice president Yemi Osinbajo attended; Bola Tinubu, national party leader and former Governor of Lagos; Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State; and Ibikunle Amosun, Acting Senator and former Governor of Ogun State.

Gboyega Akosile, the spokesman for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who hosted the meeting, said the meeting “ended with a one-point resolution, which is to make sure the region is united on purpose, that the next president from Nigeria must come. southwest.”
Shortly after the meeting, Akande also briefed reporters on the resolution. He, however, did not entertain the questions of the journalists.
