The National Reconciliation Committee of the Congress of all progressives (APC) said it has received 47 requests from members since its appointment some three months ago.
The committee declared this when presenting its interim report to the party’s national leader in Abuja on Monday.
After an attempt under Adams Oshiomhole, the APC reconstituted a nine-member committee chaired by Abdullahi Adamu, Senator, in September 2021, to appease aggrieved members across the country and reposition the party ahead of the general election. of 2023.
Adamu said that in addition to the 47 petitions before the committee, more are expected from aggrieved party members. He said that more members are still aggrieved.
As a result of this, he said that “his team cannot be absolute in that they have flawlessly delivered their mandate to the party and have based their assessment on the final decision of the interim committee.”
“We have submitted our interim report. As we said when presenting the report, there is still work to be done. Reconciliation is a work in progress. And we can’t pretend that we’ve taken care of every little thing that’s come our way. But by the time the final report is ready, we’ll be able to give you the actual report.
“I said that until we get the final report from the national secretariat, we cannot say success until they declare that our work was successful. We cannot declare our own successful work. We will be more misleading if we do so,” Adamu said as he fielded questions from reporters.
As well as addressing disputes in some state APC chapters, the panel was asked to reconcile members from chapters where the party has become polarized, in particular in Ogun, Osun, Gombe, Kwara, among others.
While the team may view the reconciliation of Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya and Danjuma Goje, former state governor and sitting senator, as a major victory, there is still conflict between members loyal to one leader or another in Ogun. Osuna and others.

Mr. Buni, in his speech read as former Senate President Ken Nnamani received the interim report, promised that the party will review the report and implement its recommendations when appropriate.
“The great achievements the party has made in reconciling the differences between our stakeholders in Gombe, Ogun, Kwara and many other states have justified the confidence the party has in its individual and collective abilities. You have really made us proud.
“I want to assure you that the Interim Committee will carefully study the report and implement it to enhance the party’s unity and strength,” Mr. Buni said.
It will be recalled that true reconciliation was one of the key promises made by the Yobe State Governor when he was appointed to lead the party in June 2020, following the dissolution of the party’s National Labor Committee (NWC) under the leadership of Mr. Oshiomhole.
Mr. Oshiomhole’s inability to ensure the warring members’ reconciliation was one of the reasons he was removed.
The presentation of the reconciliation committee’s report is one of the activities scheduled by the party in preparation for its national convention on February 26.
