Nigeria’s traditional ruler, the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, has hailed Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, as a divine intervention, asserting that Otti is not merely a pride for Abia but for the entire nation. Igwe Achebe declared that Otti’s arrival was orchestrated by a higher power to rejuvenate Abia, lifting it from a state of decay endured for 24 years, akin to wandering in the wilderness.
The esteemed Igbo monarch, also a prominent figure in the corporate realm, highlighted the resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of Abia’s people, particularly in Aba, the commercial heart of the state. He lauded the positive changes initiated by Otti’s administration, marking a promising shift towards prosperity.
Speaking during the commissioning of three newly reconstructed roads—Ehi, Kent, and Old Court—in Aba, Igwe Achebe expressed his delight at witnessing the transformation unfolding under Otti’s leadership. He urged the residents to continue supporting Otti, affirming his confidence in the governor’s commitment to fulfilling his promises.
Governor Otti, echoing the sentiments of Igwe Achebe, reiterated his administration’s dedication to serving the people’s interests above all else. Reflecting on the deplorable condition of the roads prior to reconstruction, Otti recounted his shock upon witnessing the hardships endured by residents. Despite the roads not being initially prioritized for renovation, Otti was compelled to intervene, ensuring their swift restoration.
Emphasizing the adherence to high-quality standards, Otti credited the collaborative efforts of contractors, supervisors, and the Ministry of Works’ Direct Labour Agency for the timely completion of the projects. He further announced plans for the redevelopment of Enyimba Hotel into a five-star facility, alongside the creation of a convention center and waterfront park, envisioning a vibrant future for Aba.
Governor Otti underscored his administration’s proactive approach, unveiling initiatives aimed at revitalizing the industrial sector and fostering economic growth. He extended an invitation to manufacturers and investors, pledging support to facilitate their return and contribute to Abia’s resurgence.
In an earlier address, the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Otumchere Oti, commended Otti’s decisive action in addressing the dilapidated state of the Old Court Road. He highlighted the road’s significance in enhancing connectivity and stimulating socio-economic development, urging residents to safeguard the newly constructed infrastructure.
The collective efforts of Otti’s administration, coupled with the unwavering support of the community, herald a new dawn for Abia. With a renewed focus on progress and prosperity, the state embarks on a transformative journey towards reclaiming its position as a beacon of innovation and enterprise in Nigeria.
