Wike donates N30m to families of murdered police officers in Rivers

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has delivered N30million to the families of three Rivers State Police Command police officers who died in the line of duty in the state.

The deceased officers, Police Inspectors Isaac Isodje, Savior Udeh and Ebenezer Edward, who served under the Diobu Division of the State Command, were killed by gunmen while conducting a stop and search in November last year.

State Information and Communications Commissioner Paulinus Nsirim, presenting the check to the families of the deceased on behalf of the governor, said the gesture is Governor Wike’s demonstration of his commitment to ensuring that the families of the police officers who lost the Life in the course of serving the state is not left destitute.

“This is a show of love from Governor Nyesom Wike to families. Although money cannot replace a life, it is a way of showing love to all the officers and men who serve in Rivers State that the state government will always be behind them no matter what situation they are in.

“So the amount here is a show of love from the governor as a man who has the milk of human kindness and compassion to cushion the impact of this great loss,” he said.

Accompanied by his colleague at the Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Ms. Inime Aguma, Nsirim said the governor recognizes the value of the service the police provide to the state and conveyed Governor Wike’s condolences to the state police command and the grieving families.

He prayed to God to grant the bereaved the strength to endure loss.

Rivers State Command Police Commissioner Mr. Ebuka on Friday described Governor Wike’s monetary presentation to the families of fallen officers as a rare gesture of encouragement in the country.

He expressed the Command’s gratitude to the Governor, who said he kept his promise after he hinted at the death of the officers.

He recalled that two of the officers were killed while carrying out an arrest and search operation in the Diobu area of ​​the state capital on November 2 of last year while the third officer was killed on November 9 of last year, while he was in an arrest operation. the murderers of the two officers.

Responding on behalf of the recipients, Mr. Isaac Okeoghene, son of one of the deceased, thanked Governor Wike for the gesture and prayed that God would reward him.
