Six die in another accident on Christmas day on the Lagos-Ibadan highway

Six people were killed in an accident involving two vehicles on the Lagos-Ibadan highway on Christmas Day, the FRSC said.

Ahmed Umar, the sector commander in Ogun state, 12 other people suffered injuries of varying degrees in the accident.

The incident occurred hours after seven people were killed in an accident on the Sagamu-Benin highway.

Umar said the Lagos-Ibadan highway accident involved 18 people and happened around 3.20 a.m. M.

He said the two vehicles involved in the accident are a Toyota Hiace bus with registration MKA 567 XZ and an Iveco articulated vehicle marked XF 854 KTN.

“The bodies of the victims have been deposited in the Idera Hospital, Sagamu, while the survivors are taken to different hospitals for treatment,” he said.

He blamed the accident on speeding and loss of control and urged motorists to desist from speeding to avoid unnecessary loss of life and property.

Mr. Umar also told NAN that N127,900 was recovered from the scene of the accident.

He advised driving cautiously and advised the families of those who might have ridden the Toyota bus to contact FRSC Ibafo Outpost for more information.

The sector commander took pity on the families of the accident victims and asked God to grant them the strength to bear the loss.

Premium Times reported earlier today how even people were killed, while seven others were injured on Saturday in an accident involving a Mercedes Benz luxury bus at the Ososa bridge on the Sagamu-Benin highway.
