The federal government says that despite the obvious challenges Nigerians face on a daily basis, President Tinubu Ball he has planted the seeds of national transformation, growth and comprehensive development in his 100 days in office.
This was stated by the Minister of Information and National Guidance, Mohammed Idris, in a statement issued Tuesday on the occasion of President Tinubu’s 100th day in office.
In the statement personally signed by the minister and made available to journalists in Abuja, Idris called on Nigerians and unions in particular to continue to support the government and show more understanding.
Tinubu, who took office on May 29 after being declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election, marked 100 days in office on Tuesday.
The minister noted that since taking office, Tinubu’s administration has made steady progress and brought about national rejuvenation.
He said that realizing that the country was in a difficult situation with local and external debts, Tinubu took the courageous decision to eliminate the fuel subsidy to avoid a national economic catastrophe of epic proportions.
The minister described the removed fuel subsidy as “a sword of Damocles that hung over Nigeria for decades, stunting growth and forcing the country into debt.”
“President Tinubu made a bold and courageous decision to remove the fuel subsidy to prevent a national economic catastrophe of epic proportions.
“In addition to removing subsidies, President Tinubu took additional steps to unify the multiple currency markets.
“While these two vital measures to save the country from hitting the rocks brought momentary unease to Nigerians, President Tinubu has never failed in his appeal to Nigerians to see the current inconveniences as a price that we must all pay to save our country from extinction. he said.
To ease the pain, Idris said the government implemented intervention programs to help cushion the unwanted negative impacts of the reforms.
Interventions, he said, included crafting a minimum wage and wage increase, supporting state and local governments so they can serve the most vulnerable, and providing fertilizer to farmers.
He said the government also provided grain to the people and put more than 11,000 CNG buses into operation for affordable public transportation.
“While striving to reduce the impact of the high cost of living on citizens, President Tinubu has focused on reorienting our economy and removing impediments to productivity and competitiveness.
“With this, the real sector will grow and create millions of decent jobs that are essential for long-term economic growth,” he said.
The minister added that in the last 100 days, the government created a Fiscal and Fiscal Reform Committee that is fully working to deepen ongoing reforms and reposition the national economy for long-term sustainability.
According to him, the committee would simplify the country’s complicated tax system, eliminate multiple taxes, simplify regulations that nullify the ease of doing business, and close the annual tax gap of more than 20 trillion.
The minister assured that the administration will promote efficiency in revenue collection and expand the tax net by ensuring that those who do not pay pay while those who do not pay the correct amount pay their fair share.
On the political scene, Idris said that in 100 days, the administration had worked to promote political stability to bring about peace, progress and development.
“The administration has stabilized politics and reduced the tensions associated with ethnic and religious upheavals by better managing our diversity.
“To strengthen the bond of national unity and social harmony, President Tinubu ensured balance in all appointments to key government posts, including heads of service from various parts of the country.

“While promoting peace and political stability within the country by bringing all sectors of our country together, the president also prioritizes adequate information about government activities and policy direction,” he said.
On the world stage, Idris said the president emerged as chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government within his 100 days in office.
He said the president had commendably raised Nigeria’s profile globally and within the West African sub-region.
Specifically, he said that Tinubu has been promoting the rule of law, upholding constitutional order and acting as a bulwark against military inroads into governance, especially in Niger, where a democratic government was recently overthrown.
“It is no coincidence that Nigeria continues to enjoy the respect of the rest of the world. This is due to President Tinubu’s strong and principled stance in favor of the ideals of democracy, rule of law and good governance.
In his effort to rejuvenate and revitalize the national economy, he said the president has embarked on a trip to India accompanied by a select delegation of cabinet ministers and more than 30 businessmen from various sectors of the economy for the G20 summit.
The initiative, according to the minister, aims to show Nigeria’s willingness to collaborate significantly for sustainable economic development.
The minister noted that since taking office, the president had been at his post of duty, working assiduously to fulfill his campaign promises set out in his “Agenda of Renewed Hope” for a bigger and better Nigeria.
He stressed that over the past 100 days, the Tinubu government has provided determined leadership and set the tone, texture and character of the administration.
