The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, says that the presentation of the COVID vaccination card is now mandatory for those attending social gatherings in the state.
Sanwo-Olu said this on Tuesday about the update on Coronavirus management in the state.
He said that as a measure to slow the spread of the disease, everyone attending a social gathering MUST present their vaccination cards or digital barcode page showing at least the first dose, but preferably the full double dose vaccination.
According to him, in unvaccinated people, a negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) within 72 hours will be an exemption.
”All social events must be duly registered to obtain event security clearance from the Lagos State Security Commission website: www.lasgsafetyreg.com prior to the celebration; and the guidelines set forth below must be strictly adhered to.
Whenever possible, events should be held outdoors and the occupancy limit at any event should not exceed 60 percent of the event center’s maximum design capacity.
”Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, MUST undergo a rapid diagnostic test (antigen) to be performed at the event site or within 24 hours prior to the event in designated laboratories. (Requesting rapid tests on site requires a request through the Safety Commission), ”he said.
The governor said that since people under the age of 18 are not vaccinated, their temperature should be monitored and people with high temperatures (above 37.5) should be kindly returned and referred to paramedics or the response team of emergency on the ground.
He said that all guests and service providers at the event should wear a nasal mask or face shield before entering and should endeavor to wash their hands before entering the venue or use hand sanitizers, after which time checks should be performed. temperature.
“Despite the enormous financial obligation and constraints associated with managing this pandemic, our administration will continue to do everything in its power to ensure the preservation of life and livelihoods for the residents of Lagos State.
